Hey, look what I finally finished!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I turned the Knit Your Bit Along wristlets into fingerless gloves which are a little more my style. I futzed around with increases and such before realizing that the best thing to do was just make them really long and stick a thumb in at some point. I just love them, although the velcro on the purse pocket where I keep my phone and bus pass is out to kill them. These babies sat around for about a month just needing the ends woven in. I was sad to think I may have just finished them in time for the weather to change, but they're still sometimes good at night.

(Technically, I finished these right before I headed south, but blogging was somewhat of a low priority.)

Stupid internet got me again. I was all ready to work on my presentation for the conference in Long Beach next week at 7 tonight. Then I thought I'd "just check out" this website for military women, wives, girlfriends, and fiances. Now look what time it is! Damn discussion boards.

I've been working at the big Fiber Gallery sale this weekend. Many people came, and much fiber was purchased (far to much by me). Prepared shoppers came with a list, to help them stay focused in the 40% off frey. I found one such list that had been dropped at the end of the day:

I hope she was able to find what she needed after losing it...

And since reading cinchouse.com was the only thing I accomplished today, I may as well share this funny from it:

Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending a Company Party.

Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all.

He didn't even remember how he got home from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong. Jack had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table.

And, next to them, a single red rose!

Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.

He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house.

He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick!: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling!"

He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast, steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table eating.

Jack asks, "Son... what happened last night?"

Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind. "You fell over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door."

Confused he asked his son, "So, why is everything in such perfect order, so clean, I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?"

His son replies, "Oh THAT!... Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, lady, I'm married!"

Broken Coffee Table $239.99

Hot Breakfast $4.20

Two Aspirins $.38

Saying the right thing at the right time .. Priceless.

Things I should not have to know:

100 fire ant bites can kill a small child.

Summer is termite season.

Termites have a season.

Wheel Estate is having a sale on double-wides.

Cockroaches are attracted to moisture.

Smoking near gas pumps is rightly illegal, but inside the gas station is just fine down south.

There are still McDonald's in this country with a smoking section.

These McDonald's still use styrofoam packaging.

Because the Walmart shopping experience is not dehumanizing enough, they have added the insulting measure of checking all products against receipts before you may leave.

It is not possible to say the words "I have been to Walmart four times today" without starting to cry.

A brief update for why I have dropped off the planet; I am driving with Mark for his move to Mississippi. General impressions so far: Montana is very pretty, North Dakota is really windy, driving this long sucks.

I have almost finished Ribby Cardi. I have about two inches left to seam on the last sleeve because it got dark, but it's looking good. I really hope it fits. I may even be able to get a zipper and post pictures of it when we reach my parents.

Alright, I'm having camera problems, but I have decided to post anyway. I've really been wanting to post pictures of my progress on Ribby Cardi. I went with popular opinion and made hollyberry sleeves. Well, mostly. It turned out that I did not order enough yarn, and I wanted to lengthen the sleeves anyway, so I am anxiously awaiting my KnitPicks order. And since one skein of Merino Style is not enough for free shipping... I ordered enough in the blue I was thinking about for the sleeves to make a whole other sweater. And some Andes Wool for the Fiber Trends Sheep Tote. It's amazing how mch your can get for $30 there. And it would hae been just silly to pay the shipping

While I wait, I have gone back to the Blossom sweater. It's flying along (which is good since I started it last night and need it done by Tuesday morning). It's a top-down raglan for a four-month old, and I have just a few rows left according to the Knitting Fool. I'm a bit concerned, though. It seems like it may be big again. Not as big as last time, since I went down to a size 10 (from 10.5) needle and used stockinette rather than garter stitch, but I'm still worried. I think I shall surf the net for generic baby sweater measurements to ease my mind.

Scientific American gives up.

And since it's April Fools Day, here's another funny thing.
