Alpaca Ski Cap of my own design (pattern available at the Fiber Gallery), knit out of Frog Tree Worsted (yumm) on size 5 needles. If anyone signs up, I'll be using this to teach a class on two-color knitting.
In The Wild Swans by HC Anderson, a girl must knit sweaters for her 12 brothers-turned-swans to make them human again, in the short time before she is to be burned as a witch, and she must do it with her bare hands using stinging nettles.
In addition to being a very exciting example of knitting in fairy tales, it sums up the essence of knitting; though painfully frustrating at times, it is always worthwhile.
